Paisley – Barony

The Barony Practice is an excellent place to train, from the opportunities provided by our welcoming, supportive environment, to our broad patient demographic and our location close to Glasgow.

We are a long established and popular practice, who began training in 1980 and have trained approximately 40 GP registrars since then.

It speaks volumes that within the last 10 yrs., two of our previous Registrars have become partners, and three have returned to us on the GP Retainer Scheme!

At our most recent Training Visit in October 2018, we were commended for the high standard of training we provide.

We highly value the intangible support that the doctors and staff can provide for each other. The entire practice team meets every morning at 825am for 5 mins, before the phonelines open. We use this time to run though the day ahead and flag up any special admin or clinical issues. After morning surgery, the GPs also all meet for coffee, chat and cathartic debriefing if required!

We place a lot of importance in doing this daily, despite the workload challenges of modern general practice.

The trainers are Dr Fiona Reilly and Dr Lorna Corfield.

Dr Corfield is also a GP Selection Centre Assessor and is currently the GPST1 coordinator for Glasgow Clyde South.

Dr Reilly is currently also our Retainer Mentor.

The other partners all have other teaching and training commitments Dr Hislop is a previous trainer and is about to become our Retainer Mentor. Dr Donna Edwards oversees Medical Student teaching in the Practice. Our newest partner, Dr Matthew Gawn supervises our DNs and Practice Pharmacists in their Independent prescribing qualification.

We welcome interested doctors , looking to be supported and challenged. Visit us in person or at www.barony.org.uk
