Port Glasgow – Medical Centre

Port Glasgow Medical Centre is situated in the heart of Port Glasgow, a town with a population of about 15000 on the outskirts of Glasgow at the west end of the M8 corridor. It is an area of regeneration with a rich historical past. We are surrounded by spectacular scenery with beautiful views of Ben Lomond and the mountains beyond.

The practice consists of a close working team of five GPs, three practice nurses, a practice manager, health care support workers, admin staff, a practice based pharmacist, and attached staff including district nurses, a health visitor, mental health nurses and a palliative care nurse.

The practice has been training for nearly 30 years, and three out of the five GPs in the practice were once trainees. Trainees are well supported from the start of their ST1 year, right through their training, and beyond.

As a trainee, I was quickly made to feel part of the team and felt supported to help me achieve my potential.

There is a wealth of training opportunities in the practice – our special interests include dermatology, sexual health and contraception (including the opportunity to carry our IUCD and Nexplanon insertion), acupuncture, joint injections, and drug misuse.

By coming to train in Port Glasgow, we can promise you a strong team working environment with an educational ethos at our heart.
