Paisley – Greenlaw

The Greenlaw Practice is one of the longest standing training practices in the West of Scotland. Two of the partners including one of the trainers are ex-GPSTs of the practice. It’s that good, we never wanted to leave! We have three (soon to be four) trainers in the practice.

Education and particularly communication skills teaching has always been and remains a very high priority on everybody’s agenda. We also take medical students, nursing and health visiting students. The wider practice team is very experienced in supporting GPSTs in their GP attachments.

Dr Scott (trainer) is an RCGP CSA examiner and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow for teaching 4th and 5th years in the practice. He helps the GPSTs in the practice and the Glasgow Clyde South trainee’s group with appropriate tips and preparation for the big exam in London in ST3. The other partners all have additional commitments which help expose the GPSTs to the breadth of primary care potential careers: Dr Slaven (trainer) is lead appraiser for Argyll; Dr Sloan (trainer) is involved in GP recruitment; Dr McColl (soon to be trainer) is involved in CHCP cluster work and teaching undergraduates; Dr Somerville also teaches undergraduates in the practice.

GPSTs are timetabled with 3 sessions of protected learning time each week and are encouraged to use this time to work on their ePortfolio, attend tutorials and complete their workplace based assessments. Go on! Speak to our previous GPSTs and give us a go – we are proud of our reputation!
